A brand new adult Saturday Art class has been announced at The Playhouse as part of their new Autumn Adult Education Programme.
The Playhouse is introducing the new monthly class following the success of the ever popular children’s art club ‘Design Den’.
‘Design Den Studio +’ is a will start in September, offering a variety of workshops designed for adults of all levels of skill.
Adults can avail of a Silk Painting Workshop under the tuition of Kirstin McLaughlin at the firsts class on Saturday, September 8. October workshop will then see adults learning how to create a Halloween Costume, whilst November’s offering is Hand Sewn Felt Jewellery Pieces. The autumn season will finish with Christmas Home Crafts on Saturday December 1. All four workshops will run between 11am and 1pm at The Playhouse and cost £20 each.
If you wish to study during the evening then The Playhouse can help there too. Two evening night classes will start on Tuesday October 2 and run for 10 weeks. Digital Photography and Printmaking Processes OCN Level 2 and Jewellery Making OCN Level 2 are on offer for £45 each. Each workshop will run from 6pm to 9pm every Tuesday until December 11. Both of these courses usually have a high intake, so if you are interested please sign up early.
Are you interested in Youth Theatre? If so, then The Playhouse’s own First Call Youth Theatre resumes Tuesday October 2 under the directorship of Shauna Kelpie. Participants should be aged 16 to 25 years and should have an interest in performing arts. Don’t be put off enrolling if you have little or no drama experience as training in vocalisation, projection, stage craft and performance skills will be covered throughout the term. The Youth Theatre will meet every Tuesday and Thursday in The Playhouse between 6pm and 8pm and will be working towards a performance to be held in The Playhouse Theatre on Thursday December 13 as well as working towards their OCN Performance qualification. The cost of training is subsidised through The Playhouse’s partnership agreement with North West Regional College and Arts Council of N.I., so to that end we ask participants to offer only £1 per workshop (there will be a total of 22 workshops).
