There’s disappointing news for Garth Brooks fans in Derry and Inishowen as the country star has now cancelled all five of his Croke Park concerts.
Aiken Promotions released a statement this afternoon (Tuesday) confirming that none of the scheduled concerts are to take place.
Fans will be informed of the ticket return process tomorrow.
The statement reads: “It is with great regret that Aiken Promotions today announce that the five concert Garth Brooks Comeback Special Event at Croke Park has been cancelled. No concerts will take place.
“The ticket return process will be outlined tomorrow. Aiken Promotions have exhausted all avenues regarding the staging of this event. We are very disappointed for the 400,000 fans who purchased tickets for The Garth Brooks Comeback Special Event.”
The concerts have been the subject of much debate in recent days after Dublin City Council refused to grant licences for two of the dates following objections from residents around Croke Park.
Garth Brooks previously said he would only perform five concerts or none. Before the announcement, there had been hopes some of the concerts would go ahead.
