Annual Scalp climb on Sunday

Have your say

Fahan playwright, Maureen Boyle gets in touch to invite everyone living in the Fahan, Inch and Burt area, as well as visitors and holiday-makers, to the Annual Scalp Climb. It will take place this Sunday, August 26, at 1.30pm. The time has been moved forward to make sure anyone who wants to watch the Donegal versus Cork match is back home in time.

Maureen said: “The climbers will be meeting at ‘The Water Stone’ at 1.30pm. Climbers are advised to bring drinking water and wear appropriate footwear. I would also ask people to take their rubbish home with them.”

A Mass for Motorcyclists will be held in St Aengus’ Church, Burt, on Sunday August 26, at 1.00 pm. Mass will be celebrated to pray for all who have fallen in past years, with an opportunity during Mass to remember any biker who has died and to ask God’s blessing in the year ahead. There will be a fund-raising ride-out after the Mass and blessing to the RNLI Lifeboat Station, Ned’s Point. All welcome to attend.

Last weekend, Burt was the setting for another, very successful, Annual Vintage Rally Show, organised by The Donegal Vintage Club. A large crowd gathered in the village to view the great display of Vintage Tractors and Cars and other artefacts of yesteryear. The Burt community are thankful we can see this interesting event on our doorstep.

Burt institution, Kathleen Grant commended locals and visitors alike for the very small amount of litter that was left behind on the roadside, adding: “Roll on August 2013.”
