The Millennium Forum has just announced that Keith Jack will play the lead role in the Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber smash hit musical, ‘Jospeph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ when it returns to the North West’s premier venue in October. The hugely popular runner up from the hit BBC series Any Dream Will Do finally gets the coloured coat in Bill Kenwright’s critically acclaimed production of this family favourite musical.
Keith, who shot to fame in the prime time television show, just narrowly missed out on the top spot to winner Lee Mead who went on to play 72 sold out weeks in the West End. Watched by millions every Saturday night, the TV show was produced to find a leading man for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new West End production, and Keith, chosen from tens of thousands of wannabes, captivated audiences week after week with his sparkling charisma and sensational singing voice. Speaking of his succession to the sought after role, Keith says “I am delighted to be playing my dream role on tour around the UK, and with the three years experience I’ve gained since the tv series I’m really looking forward to bringing something new and exciting to the show.”
Bill Kenwright, one of the most successful and prolific producers in British theatre today, (whose current hit West End shows include the renowned musicals Wizard of Oz, Blood Brothers and Dreamboats and Petticoats), was on the expert panel of judges alongside Andrew Lloyd Webber, Denise Van Outen and John Barrowman and is delighted that Keith is taking on the leading role.
Since Any Dream Will Do, Keith’s star has well and truly risen, with numerous stage and television appearances including performing for Queen Elizabeth, at Andrew Lloyd Webber’s birthday party, singing alongside John Barrowman on tour and on his album, and featuring on the BBC shows I’d Do Anything and When Joseph Met Maria. Keith launched his debut album This Time in 2008 and his hotly anticipated follow up An Evening at the Musicals was released to critical acclaim in 2009.
Having enjoyed sensational reviews, Bill Kenwright’s “amazing”, “superb”, “wonderful” and “brilliant” production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s sparkling family musical continues to enjoy huge success across the country with standing ovations at every performance.
Retelling the Biblical story of Joseph, his eleven brothers and the coat of many colours, this magical musical is full of unforgettable songs including Any Dream Will Do, Close Every Door To Me and One More Angel.
