Appeal over teen’s phone

The family of a teenager who died after being found unconscious in Derry city centre have appealed for the return of his mobile phone.

St Columb’s College student Caolan Page did not have his phone when he was found at Magazine Street, although he had used it just minutes earlier at a fast food restaurant at Waterloo Place.

The family of the 19 year-old yesterday made an emotional appeal for the return of his smart phone, which they believe contains precious last photographs of their beloved Caolan.

It’s believed he may have dropped the phone on the night he fell (October 14), suffering a fatal head injury.

Stepfather Martin Dillon said he hoped for the return of the device or even its SIM card as the pictures “are very important” to his family. “It’s not for the value of the phone at all but what’s on it we are keen to have - the recent photographs are very important to us. If anyone found an iPhone on the night of Friday October 14 between Waterloo Place and Magazine Street please return it to us.”

Should anyone have the phone or know its whereabouts please post it to Martin Dillon, Killea, Lifford, or contact the Derry Journal on 028 71 272250.
