Have your say

Have you ever wanted to stand on the summit of a sea stack? Now you can with Foyle Hospice.

Get ready for Foyle Hospice’s all new challenge in the wilds of Donegal.

This event is not for the faint hearted – having recently been a finalist in the Irish Tourism Awards for Best Adventure Activity.

Join Foyle Hospice on Saturday, 13th June 2015 or Saturday, 18th July to travel to the most remote road-end in Ireland for a Unique Ascent and challenge yourself to take on sea, land and air. The Unique Ascent event will be a test for all abilities as participants will be required to complete a 100ft technical rock climb from the base of one of Donegal’s iconic sea stacks. From there each participant will launch off the summit of the sea stack and traverse 300ft along a thin rope back to the cliff tops on the mainland. Could you handle it?

Foyle Hospice is celebrating 30 years of providing Hospice Care Services in the North West in 2015. You can make a difference to a patient and their family by getting out, getting active and raising vital funds – changing your view for a day can change the quality of someone’s life.

The annual running costs at Foyle Hospice amount to £2.9 million and only 20% of this is funded through HSCB. This leaves approximately £2.23 million to be raised through fundraising and the good will and generosity of the local community.

This will be a one day activity with numbers strictly limited. If you are interested in taking part and wish to obtain further details including the fundraising target for the challenge then contact Community Fundraiser, Rachel Bruce, on 02871359888 or email rachelbruce@foylehospice.com.

Meanwhile registrations are continuing for the 15th Annual Foyle Hospice Female Walk/Run which will take place on Sunday, 7th June 2015 at 1:30pm. The walk/run will follow the route introduced three years ago, with the starting point at Templemore Sports Complex leading to the finish line at Ebrington Square via the Peace Bridge. Entry is £7 per person. Entry and Sponsorship Forms are available from Foyle Hospice Fundraising Centre, 61 Culmore Road, Telephone 028 71359888 or at the Foyle Hospice Shop, Waterloo Place.
