Arson attack on car in Hazelbank

A car was deliberately set alight in the Ringfort Road area of Hazelbank in the early hours of this morning (Monday 25th January).

The arson was tackled by local firefighters, who managed to contain and extinguish the blaze within 25 minutes.

A Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said, “Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) received a call at 2:32am to a report of a car on fire at the Ringfort Road, Hazelbank area of Foyle in the early hours of this morning (Monday 25th January).

“One fire appliance from Northland Fire Station was deployed to the scene. Firefighters using a hosereel jet and breathing apparatus dealt with the incident and Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service finished at the scene at 2:56am.

“The fire is being treated as deliberate.”
