A special fundraising event organised to help make a Donegal holiday home wheelchair accessible for a Derry boy with Duchenne muscular dystrophy will take place next Friday evening.

The event, which is titled, ‘Train for Travis’, will take place at the Fighting Fit Bootcamp gym in Springtown Industrial Estate.

Gym owner, Seamus Fox, said interest in the event was steady but called on anyone wishing to improve the life of sick little nine year-old boy Travis McMenamin to log on to the event’s webpage and donate.

“Travis’ mum and dad are members of the gym so when I heard Travis had lost his mobility before Christmas I felt like I needed to do something. Travis and family have a mobile home in Kerrykeel and it’s Travis’ favourite place to go. With Travis confined to a wheelchair it makes visiting the holiday home difficult for him so all the money we raise will go towards making the holiday home accessible for Travis,” said Seamus.

The ‘Training for Travis’ will take place next Friday at Fighting Fit Bootcamp. You do not have to be a member to take part. All welcome. If you would like to contribute to the ‘Training for Travis’ fundraising campaign visit http://fnd.us/c/aveO4
