Atlantic storm lashes Malin

There will be a Community Christmas Celebration at St Johnston and Carrigans Family Resource Centre today from 10 am to 12.30 pm. There will be Christmas treats and community carol singing. Hot beverages and Christmas bakes will be available. There will be raffles. The amazing Christmas Hamper will be drawn at noon so make sure you get your ticket. You can purchase a line for the hamper in the reception area of the Centre.

There is a selection of Christmas Cards, depicting local scenes, available at reception in St Johnston and Carrigans Family Resource Centre. €1 per card and you can purchase 6 for €5. Proceeds in aid of the centre.

The Resource Centre will close for the Christmas holidays today and re-open on Monday, 5 January. We hope you enjoy the festive season and have a happy new year.

A DVD can be purchased in the Resource Centrepriced at €15 a copy. Proceeds are in aid of the Society of St Vincent de Paul. Johnny Haughey and Fergus Cleary, two SVP members, have produced this DVD to raise funds here in Donegal. Artists such as Daniel O’Donnell, Margo and Conal Gallen and many more have given their time free of charge so that all proceeds will go to the Conferences.

St Baithin’s Conference, Society of St Vincent de Paul, held two Christmas collection weekends this year at St Baithin’s Church. The Society would like to say a huge thank you to the community. Proceeds for the work of the society are €1082.67.

St. Johnston and Carrigans CE Project is currently recruiting for the following posts to be based at the St. Johnston and Carrigans Family Resource Centre. 1 Youth Worker and 2 Environmental Workers. All applicants must be over 25 yrs of age and on benefit for at least one year. The CE Project is a good opportunity for someone who has been out of the workforce to return to employment in a supportive environment. CE Workers are entitled to free training as part of their yearly contract. The CE Supervisor works with each CE worker to identify training courses that would equip them to apply for permanent jobs after CE. The year on Community Employment is designed as a stepping stone to help people gain skills and experience and get back to work when they leave the project. There is a dressed doll in the Resource Centre reception area, can you guess her birthday date? 50c a guess, just choose a date in the diary and put your name against it with your contact details. The draw will take place at the Community Christmas event 19 December.

A Christmas Disco will be held on Thursday 18 December from 5.30pm to 6.45 pm. for 9 to 12 year olds only. €1 per child. Please call 9148551 to book.

Mary’s Meals: €100 was raised in St Johnston Post Office recently for Mary’s Meals. Maureen would like to say a huge thank you to the community for its support. A letter of thanks from Mary’s Meals can be viewed in the Post Office on the notice board.
