Ballykelly beauty Zara Patton is hoping to win enough votes to reach the final of Miss Teen Queen UK 2011 in September.
The 17-year-old St. Mary’s, Limavady, student entered the beauty competition a month ago, and was over the moon when she was shortlisted from thousands of hopefuls.
The A-level pupil said to win the nationwide competition would be “a dream come true”.
“I entered it online. It was a totally random thing for me, just out of the blue,” said the bubbly teen.
“Two weeks after I entered I got a phone call from the organisers asking me to go to London for a photoshoot so my mum and I flew over on the Monday and came back on the Tuesday.
“It was really interesting and I met a few of the other girls. They did my hair and make-up. I was a bit nervous, but I enjoyed it.”
Zara, who describes herself as caring and creative, is competing against more than 40 girls and the only teen from Northern Ireland to have reached this stage. So far she has 255 votes, but is hoping that will increase with people texting or picking up the phone to help her win the crown.
The top two girls from each age category will go through to the live finals on September 2nd 2011 in London.
“I could win, if everyone votes for me!” says Zara. “I’ve never modelled before and I just thought I would enter and take a shot at it.
“It’s great people are voting for me and supporting me.
“If I win I could represent the UK in an international pageant. It would be a dream come true.”
You can vote for Zara by texting TQ05 to 81319 or by phone vote on 0900 5938000 giving the digits 05.
Voting closes at 11.30pm on June 30 and details can be found on the Teen Queen UK website.
