BBC Radio Foyle’s lunchtime show presenter Mark Patterson has sustained a back injury during a surfing holiday.
The popular radio personality, an avid surfer, was on holiday near Biarritz when the accident happened - although he is now home in Northern Ireland where he is receiving medical care.
A spokesperson for the BBC said yesterday: “The extent of his injury is currently being assessed by professionals.
“Our thoughts are with Mark and we wish him a speedy recovery.”
It is not known for how long Mark will be missing from the Derry airwaves.
