An invitation has gone out to local people to get their glad rags on and sign up for the first Fire-fighters’ Charity Ball in Derry for three years.
Over 200 tickets have already been snapped up for what the local crews are dubbing the “night of the year” at the City Hotel on Saturday, October 18th.
The black tie evening has been organised by the local teams to raise money for two charities, the Foyle Hospice and CLIC Sargent.
The evening will consist of a champagne reception, followed by a five-course meal, with entertainment provided by local band Portabello.
There will be a range of spot prizes throughout the evening, followed by a charity draw and auction.
Prizes include a weekend hotel stay in Scotland in conjunction with the City Hotel, signed jerseys from Liverpool FC and Manchester United FC and a signed Ulster Rugby top.
Fire-fighter Adrian Cooper from Northland Road Station said: “This is an opportunity for us to put on a great night and raise as much money as we can for the charities.”
His colleague Gavin Doherty added: “It has been a number of years since our last charity ball and again we are calling on the wonderful support that we received in the past to help raise much needed funds for these two causes.
“The last couple we did have been fantastic nights and at the last one alone we raised over £8,000. We have had great support from local businesses in the past and again this year. Tickets are going very well so if you want to get in, get in fast.”
Tickets are priced £55 (including entry to the draw) and are now on sale, and local business are welcome to sponsor a table or donate a gift towards the prize draw and auction.
