Big Tickle comedy back with a bang

The Playhouse Big Tickle comedy festival returns with a bang this September with another outstanding line-up of comedians and comedy events.

The finest of the UK and Ireland’s stand up comedians, including, Colin Murphy, David O’ Doherty, Jake O’Kane and many more will take to The Playhouse stage, as well as many comedy theatre productions, for an action packed month of farce and fun.

The Hilarious David O’Doherty will be making a triumphant return to The Big Tickle on Friday September 2. Belfast-based stand-up Jake O’Kane will then bring his confrontational yet intelligent wit to The Big Tickle on Saturday September 3, supported by Micky Bartlett and Ruaidhri Ward.

The local comedy panel show ‘The Movie Quiz’ returns for another great night of craic on Wednesday September 7. Two teams of the North West’s finest & funniest comedians, including Barry ‘The Blender’ Henderson, Micky Bartlett, Bobby Best, Ciaran Flanagan and James Lecky of Love The Concept, battle it out in a live podcast recording.

Colin Murphy will then come back to The Playhouse stage on Friday September 9 with his latest collection of observations, frustrations, nonsense and whatever else might happen on the night.

Three Irish comedians will be leading the laughter in an evening with Barry Murphy, Paul Tylak and Jarlath Regan at The Playhouse on Thursday 15th September, 8pm.

On Friday September 16, the impeccable one-woman comedy show, ‘Zocorro Rose of Tralee’ tells the story of a Spanish testosterone-fuelled Nanny recalling the memorable year she entered the Rose of Tralee, creating the biggest scandal in the history of the competition.

Next on the bill will be some grotesque comedy by award-winning ensemble theatre company Penny Dreadful on Saturday September 17.

Other comedy acts throughout the city will also be exercising their funny bones as part of the eclectic and extensive festival, including the Beech Hill Country House Hotel, where acclaimed English comedy company Laughlines will have audiences shedding tears of laughter with their two hilarious shows, ‘School Dinners’ and ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ on Wednesday and Thursday September 7 and 8. Comedy will also be raising the roof at Masons Comedy Club, where Micky Bartlett will be leading the ever popular open mike night on Thursday 1st Sept, and John Colleary and Fred Cooke will tickle some funny bones on Thursday 8th September.
