Big turnout for 100th Limavady parkrun

It was wet, cold and damp, but that didn't stop more than 100 runners from celebrating a century of parkruns in Limavady on Saturday.

Since the first run at the Backburn Path in 2015 there’s always been a decent turnout, but the weekly event saw a surge in participation this weekend.

Alongside the hardcore club runners chasing a personal best, there were plenty of young children running with their parents.

Some runners brought their dogs along.

Parkrun volunteer, Julie Brolly, was delighted with the turnout. She thanked everyone for braving the weather and making the day so special and the volunteers who give up their time every week to make sure the free, timed 5k run goes smoothly.

Ms Brolly also thanked local sponsors who donated prizes for the 100th run.

For information on how to take part in the run, check out the Facebook page ‘Limavady parkrun’ where results will be posted.
