A young man whose body was found impaled on a fence in Derry has been named locally as Gerard McKinney.
The 29 year-old’s body was found on a fence beside the River Foyle at Victoria Road in the Waterside on Monday morning.
It’s believed he did not fall from a height onto the fence.
The grisly scene was discovered by employees of a local business on Monday morning, although it is believed the body may have been there since the weekend.
Mr McKinney, who had an address at Duddy’s Court in the Waterside, is believed to be originally from Ballymagroarty.
The area was sealed off for two days as police investigated the scene. A post mortem has been carried out on the body and police are not treating the death as suspicious.
