The remains of a man recovered from the River Foyle have been identified as those of Sean Diver. He was reported missing in January.

Mr Diver, who was 39-years-old, had been missing since January. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

It is understood that his remains were discovered on the Strabane side of Newbuildings by the Community Rescue Service.

PSNI Chief Inspector Ivor Morton said, “Police remain in contact with the family of Mr Diver and I would like to take this opportunity to offer my sincere condolences to them and Sean’s friends at this difficult time.”

A series of searches had been conducted along the Mourne, Finn and Foyle rivers and their banks.
