Bombay Bicycle Club are to play Derry’s Nerve Centre on Wednesday, November 27. The band, which was nominated for an Ivor Novello Award in 2010, will release their fourth studio album early next year and will be playing the new material. By the time Bombay Bicycle Club roll into Derry, fans should expect one heck of a rock and roll show.
Drummer, Suren de Saram, said he is excited to be concluding their most extensive Irish tour ever in the City of Culture. “It is always fun playing new material. Basically, being honest, we were getting tired of touring the last album.”
With gigs across Ireland this month the band are currently in intense rehearsals: “We haven’t toured Ireland to this extent before. At every single Irish gig the reception is warm and receptive,” said Suren.
Asked about the new album he explained: “The inspiration and creativity comes from travels to Turkey and India. Almost inevitably it has been influenced by Bollywood.
“Some people might be a little shocked by the more dance music influenced rhythms. The album is a pretty big departure for us musically.”
Bombay Bicycle Club play The Nerve Centre on Wednesday November 27. Tickets from £18 at box office 028 71 260 562.
