The hugely popular Foyle Hospice Brides Across the Bridge event will return later this year the ‘Journal’ can reveal.

Last April saw almost 1,000 Derry women, and a few Derry men, modelling a mixture of fashion masterpieces and disasters in equal measure in a bid to raise money for charity.

A few alterations were made and there were a few crash diets in an effort for the crowd to get themselves ready for the day which turned out to be one of the City of Culture’s most memorable events.

And all those who took part played their part in setting a world record.

Now organisers have decided to bring the brides back in 2014.

Organisers are keeping tightlipped about the event and a date has yet to be set but the ‘Journal’s been told this year the event will be even bigger and better than in 2013.

A post on the Brides Across the Bridge facebook page stated: “Happy New Year to all our lovely Brides! We hope you all have a fabulous 2014 and stay tuned for some exciting news from Foyle Hospice!”

And already the women of the city have been showing their enthusiasm for the event with many eager to sign up for 2014..

One woman wrote: “with no morning/all day sickness to stop me from going this time!!! Please say youse are up for it!”

Further details of the event will be revealed by the Foyle Hospice in the coming weeks.
