Leah Waldron's blog 'LoulaBelle Loves' has been longlisted for the finals of the Irish Blog Awards.

A Buncrana woman, who set up an online blog to share beauty tips, has been nominated for the Irish Blog Awards.

Leah Waldron created ‘LoulaBelle Loves’ just a few months ago and women - as well as some men - have been flocking to it since.

In the Beauty and Lifestyle blog, Leah reviews cosmetics and products, showcases hairstyles, offers make-up tips and techniques and speaks about general lifestyle topics.

Her work has now made the long list of the Irish Blog Awards 2014, which celebrates the best in Irish blogging.

Leah is nominated in the Best Blog Post category for her post about becoming a finalist in the Face of Ireland awards, of which the prize is a charity ambassadorial role for Ireland.

The winner of both the Face of Ireland and the Irish Blog Awards will be announced in October.

Speaking to the Journal, Leah said she was “very surprised” to be nominated for ‘LoulaBella Loves” as it is relatively new.

She added that “there are so many great blogs out there” and it was a “lovely surprise” to receive a confirmation email last week.

Leah revealed she was inspired to set up the blog as she has been working in the beauty industry for eight years andalso has a passion for teaching.

She said: “I thought creating a blog would be a great forum for passing on my tips and tricks to others and helping with any questions people may have.”

Leah told how she first became interested in the beauty industry when she carried out work experience in a local beauty salon during her Leaving Certificate year.

She “thoroughly enjoyed” it and went on to study Beauty and Spa Therapy for two years. She followed this up with a third year in Make Up Artistry at Dublin’s Portobello College.

“I love the the creativity and variety of the beauty industry and the fact you are always learning as new treatments are invented,” she said.

With this in mind, Leah has recently progressed into the more medical side of beauty carrying out laser therapies and minor cosmetic procedures.

Her blog posts are inspired by questions received from friends and acquaintances and she said people are “always welcome” to request a topic they would like her to blog about

You can vote for Leah on the Blog Awards Ireland website, selecting ‘Best Blog Post 2014’ and clicking on the blog ‘Loulabelle Loves’.

She said she would “really appreciate” a vote to place her on the shortlist and also thanked her readers for making her “little hobby worthwhile.”

Meanwhile, if Leah is chosen as the Face of Ireland she will go on to represent Ireland at next year’s St Patrick’s Day parade in America.

Leah was chosen in the Dublin heats of the competition, which had 30,000 entries last year.
