An Inishowen woman, who brought joy to Buncrana and Inishowen with her ‘free hugs’ initiative is now spreading the love to Derry.
Earlier this month, Juliette Emery spent a day outside Buncrana Post Office, where she gave out free hugs to passers by.
Juliette decided to embark on the feel-good project in order to boost people’s mood, spread some happiness and help combat depression and brighten up someone’s day.
It was a huge success, with an estimated 1500 people receiving a welcome hug from Juliette and her fellow ‘huggers’ Claire McLaughlin and Amanda Murphy.
Following her success in Buncrana, Juliette spoke of her plans to expand the initiative.
She has now decided to so this sooner rather than later and will be hugging the people of Derry this Saturday.
From 12-6pm, Juliette will be giving out free hugs on Derry’s iconic Peace Bridge.
She has urged everyone to go along and avail of a feel-good boost.
Speaking to the ‘Journal,’ Juliette said she was very moved by the people she met in Buncrana and how they reacted to her.
She disclosed how one person told her they had not been hugged for 40 years, while another person hadn’t been for 30 years.
Juliette said she was glad to be able to make a difference to these people’s lives and bring a smile to the faces of the people of Buncrana.
So, if you missed out on your cuddle in Buncrana and want to boost your mood, make your way to Derry’s Peace Bridge this Saturday. Juliette says she will happy to give you a big hug,
