Burt women Kathleen Grant and Carmel McDermott have got in gear to remind people about the annual Burt auction, which takes place this weekend.
Kathleen and Carmel are part of the Burt Chapel Repair Fund fundraising committee and are pictured on a tandem bicycle – one of the items that will go under the hammer in St. Mary’s Hall, Burt.
Speaking to the ‘Journal,’ Kathleen said the committee was still seeking for donations of saleable items for their “worthy cause.”
All funds from the auction will go towards the Burt Chapel fund.
Restoration work has already started on the iconic Church and phase two will get underway soon. This iconic building of St. Aengus’s Church is due to celebrate its golden jubilee in 2017.
Kathleen said: “At the time of going to press, a few of the other items we have been pledged are toys, furniture, household items, table churn, collectables and delph.
“We also have a copy of Harry Swan’s ‘Twixt Foyle and Swilly,’ along with other rare books.”
The guest auctioneer on the day will be Gerard Deehan.
