More than 100 people came off the dole in Derry last month - but almost 6,000 are still signing on in the city.

The latest claimant count, released by the North’s Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment this morning, show a total of 5,793 people are currently claiming unemployment related benefits - that’s 8.6% of the city’s working age population.

Only West Belfast (9.7%) and North Belfast (8.9%) have higher claimant counts across the North’s 18 Westminster parliamentary constituencies.

The latest figures show 104 people came off the dole in the Foyle constituency last month.
