Brand new catering facilities have been opened at City of Derry Airport.

One of the North’s largest indigenously-owned companies, The Mount Charles Group, has just completed a £150,000 refurbishment of the airport’s eating facilities with the roll out of its successful bistro brand ‘Fed & Watered’ and the introduction of its ‘We Make’ café.

As part of a catering and cleaning contract, the company is expected to generate a turnover of £5 million over the next seven years.

The overhaul of catering facilities will present airport passengers with new surroundings and an enhanced menu.

Trevor Annon, owner and founder of The Mount Charles Group, said: “We are delighted to be awarded the catering and cleaning contract at City of Derry Airport and hope to provide its passengers and users with facilities befitting a UK City of Culture.”

Damien Tierney, Managing Director of City of Derry Airport, added: “The Mount Charles Group has made a significant investment in these new catering facilities and this will deliver a marked improvement in the passenger experience.

“These works represent the next step in developing a commercial heart for the airport, and will give passengers the level of service expected at a modern airport facility. I very much welcome the opening of the new bar, restaurant and coffee shop and I am sure passengers will be very impressed with the new facilities.”

Requalified as one of Ireland’s ‘Top 20 Best Managed Companies’ in the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme 2012, The Mount Charles Group has built a strong reputation over the last 25 years throughout Ireland and, increasingly, in Britain.
