Sinn Fein councillor Sean McGlinchey has welcomed news that planning approval has been granted for 17 new homes to be built in Dungiven.
News of the approval was revealed at a planning meeting of Limavady Borough Council on Tuesday.
The application for the 17 two-story homes and associated car parking was made on behalf of Apex Housing Association. The new homes will be located to the south and east of the Ard na Smoll area in Dungiven.
Colr. McGlinchey who lives in Dungiven said the news would help relieve the shortage of social housing in the Roe Valley.
“I think this is great news because the issue of social housing is a serious issue I think as well it is bound to create jobs in the construction sector, which can only be welcomed,” he said.
