SDLP Foyle MLA Pat Ramsey has expressed concern about the continuity of Housing Executive maintenance works in Derry after he was informed that the contract is to be awarded to a new firm.
Up to 40 jobs could be at risk as Transfer of Undertaking (TUPE) arrangements for the transfer of workers from Omega to the new contractor have not yet been completed.
The Foyle MLA said: “I have been alerted that there could be a risk to the current Housing Executive maintenance jobs at Omega after the contract was awarded to a new company.
“Up to 40 jobs could be at risk if TUPE arrangements are not finalised in the coming hours, as I understand the deadline is Monday.
“I immediately raised this with the DSD Minister’s office yesterday and will be liaising with them throughout the day to ensure that a speedy and positive resolution to what could be a serious blow to those long standing jobs in the City.”
