500 jobs up for grabs at Derry jobs fair

500 full and part time jobs will be available at a jobs fair in the Millennium Forum in Derry held on Wednesday 23 September 2015.

Thirty companies with over 550 vacancies have so far confirmed their attendance on the day. The vacancies include both full and part-time opportunities, and permanent and seasonal jobs.

The job fair, organised by the Department for Employment and Learning (DEL) is taking place between 10am and 4pm and will offer jobseekers the chance to discuss various job opportunities with leading companies including Almac, Fujitsu, Relay Software and Matalan. A wide range of vacancies will be available as well as advice and guidance on a range of training and re-skilling opportunities.

Speaking ahead of the event, Employment and Learning Minister Dr Stephen Farry said: “This event brings employers, support organisations and jobseekers together under one roof. The Job Fair has something for everyone and I would encourage anyone, whether in work, unemployed or simply considering their education and training options, to explore the services which will be available on the day.

“A range of support organisations, including my Department’s Careers Service and Employment Service, will also be present to provide information, advice and guidance on a range of training and employment schemes that can assist individuals progress towards work and equip them with the skills to compete in the labour market.”

Marion McKeone from DEL’s Careers Service, said: “Careers Advisers will be on hand to offer careers information, advice and guidance to anyone thinking about changing jobs or career direction, looking for Education/Training/Employment opportunities, or looking for information on a particular career. You will also be able to get assistance and advice on writing a CV, filling in application forms, interviews techniques and much more.
