Sinn Féin councillor Mickey Cooper has called on DRD Roads Service to act to solve the long-running parking problems for residents of Aberfoyle Crescent.

Colr. Cooper met with residents of the area recently to discuss their concerns over parking.

Residents say the problem of non-residents parking outside their homes, has been ongoing for more than a decade.

“The residents told me of their frustration that the parking issue, caused by the areas proximity to local businesses and the university, has still not been resolved almost ten years since they first approached Roads Service on the issue. There are several suggested solutions on the table yet the residents are unclear on the likelihood of any of the options being implemented.

“At this stage the residents are asking Roads Service to increase their focus on resolving the issue, mindful of the fact that the construction of the North West Science Park and the potential expansion of the Magee campus into the Foyle College site could make the problem even worse.”
