Organisations looking to develop or expand accommodation in the lead up to the UK City of Culture 2013 are being urged to sign up for a special seminar organised by Derry City Council and Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB) which takes place on Thursday 29 March 2012 in the City.
As the city prepares for two exciting years of events such as the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race and Peace One Day Music Festival in 2012 and the All Ireland Fleadh and The Turner Prize Exhibition in 2013 which collectively will bring over 400,000 visitors into the city, Derry City Council in conjunction with NITB and Derry Visitor and Convention Bureau will present an accommodation insight for existing and potential accommodation providers.
The event will explore how the city will host the influx of tourists and their impact on the city. NITB will advise on the certification process required for setting up new tourism accommodation and the event will present case studies of accommodation options used for other large-scale events.
There will also be an opportunity to network with other businesses and local exhibiting bodies will offer advice on legislation, funding and support.
The event will take place from 9.30am to 1.30pm on 29 March 2012 at the Waterfoot Hotel and is intended for existing and potential accommodation providers.
It is free to attend but registration is essential. To book a place please contact Emma King at MCI on (028) 90446296 or email nitb-BusinessInsights@mci-group.com. You can also contact Deirdre Harte at Derry City Council for further information on accommodation plans for 2013.
