The director of City of Derry Airport has encouraged people planning to park at the airport to pre-book to save money.
Damien Tierney made the comment after a report from the Consumer Council found that parking at City of Derry Airport (CODA) was among the most competitively priced in Ireland.
Findings of the survey highlight CoDA has the most competitively priced parking amongst Ireland’s Airports.
CODA pre-book rates start at £2.00 per day, after the first day with a total saving of £36 when pre-booking a 7 day stay in CoDA’s main car park in front of the terminal building. The report also highlights a £68 saving when pre-booking a 14 day stay in the main car park at C0DA.
Speaking on the findings of the report, Consumer Council Head of Policy for transport, Scott Kennerley, said; “The cost of airport car parking is rarely the first thing people think about when booking flights”.
Airport Director, Damien Tierney welcomed the report and encouraged people to pre-book their parking before flying.
“The Airport works continuously to ensure we offer competitive products to meet our customer needs. Our pre-booked parking products are the best option for most travellers and since many people now use the internet to book flights and holidays we have made it very simple to book our parking on-line,” he said.
Mr Tierney also said spaces do not have to be pre-booked online. “Of course we know that some people are still not comfortable using the internet so we have retained a telephone option for pre-booking as well.
“We are delighted that this report confirms that City of Derry Airport continues to offer the best value for money on-site airport parking in the country.”
Sinn Féin Councillor Eric McGinley also encouraged City of Derry Airport passengers to avail of pre-book car parking.
“The Consumer Council report highlights clearly the benefits of pre-booking car parking space at airports,” he said.
“In particular the City of Derry Airport offers the most competitive rates across the North and is testament to the commitment of the Airport to provide an affordable, efficient and safe travelling package for passengers.
“I would encourage passengers from across the North West region to avail of the City of Derry Airport offering and to use the pre-booking car parking facility,” Colr. McGinley added.
