Allstate NI are recruiting for new staff this week, as they host an Open Day on Thursday 12th March at Da Vinci’s Hotel.
They’re a fast growing employer in the North West, with sites in both Derry and Strabane.
Job opportunities are also varied, and cover a wide range of roles, with many employees starting at the bottom tier and working their way up.
One such employee is Allison Johnston (pictured, right), who currently works as part of the VXML development team.
She spoke to the ‘Journal’ about her career progression.
“I joined Allstate in August 2012, after working for ten years with a telecommunications company in Belfast. I had moved back to the city in 2010 and heard good reports about the company.
“So when an opening was advertised I went along to see if my skills would work with their position. They have, and I’ve also been trained extensively within Allstate.”
Just two years later Allison has progressed from being the ‘newbie’ within a team to a principal member.
“I hit the ground running when I started and Allstate are great at giving you set tasks to get on with.
“They also set out your role and responsibilities, so your role is defined, but they also focus on career development, so if you exceed those expectations there’s room for developing your career further.
“Allstate also takes on new ideas with an innovation tool that allows other staff members to rate and explore the idea, which means you have a chance to have an input into the business and how it works.
“My role is really interesting; no two days are the same, which I enjoy.”
The job is also very family friendly with most staff able to avail of flexible working, something Allison takes advantage of.
“With four young children under the age of eight I’m able to work nine days over a fortnight, allowing me an ‘extra’ day off every other week. I can also start after the school run in the mornings which is a lovely bonus. It’s a way of working that many of the employees at Allstate, male and female, would make use of.
