Anxious wait for Jessops staff as administration looms

editorial image

Staff at Derry’s Jessops store face an uncertain future amid reports the high street camera chain is on the brink of administration.

The chain announced earlier this week that 15 of its 200 stores across the UK were to close, but today it has been reported that administrators PricewaterhouseCoopers are set to take over the running of the firm.

That move would mean staff at Derry’s Foyleside now face an anxious wait to discover if their jobs are at risk.

Jessops, based in Leicestershire, has suffered in recent years amid competition from the rise in popularity of camera phones and online competition.
