The Beach House restaurant in Buncrana has been named ‘Casual Dining Restaurant of the Year’ in the highly-rated 2013 Georgina Campbell’s Ireland Hospitality Awards.
The award was announced at a ceremony at Bord Bia’s headquarters in Dublin recently.
Georgina Campbell, regarded as one of the foremost authorities on dining and accommodation in Ireland, had warm words of praise for the Buncrana venue and its head chef Peter Cheesman.
She said; “Lovely views across Lough Swilly may be the trump card at Claire McGowan’s smart-casual restaurant, but it has plenty else going for it too.
“Finding this well-named spot is a joy for a lot of happy visitors........welcoming signs at the door ensure that nobody passes unknowingly and, once inside, the stylish yet laid-back two-storey restaurant and a bit of banter from friendly staff will have you hooked.”
Paying tribute to Peter Cheesman, she said “he cooks with stylish simplicity” and “has an enviable reputation for showcasing local produce - everything is freshly made on site, and top quality ingredients translate into very good food indeed”.
Beach House proprietor Claire McGowan said; “We are delighted and thrilled to receive this prestigious award which gives recognition to the high standards we set ourselves and is testament to the hard work and dedication of all our team at the Beach House.”.
