SDLP councillor Shauna Cusack has encouraged home owners on benefits and landlords with low income tenants to check if they are eligible for a home heating improvement scheme.
Colr. Cusack advised people to avail of the free scheme being offered through the Department of Social Development’s Warm Homes Scheme.
“This service will be crucial in helping manage the rising costs of heating your home this winter. Many people are living in poorly insulated homes with inadequate or outdated heating systems.
“This is costing them unnecessary financial stress as they struggle to keep themselves and their families warm. This scheme provides much needed assistance to home owners and private tenants to make their home more energy and cost effective,” she said.
Colr. Cusack also said the application process for the scheme is easy to complete.
“This really is a something for nothing opportunity and I would urge anyone set to struggle this winter to take advantage of it now. It is a simple, straightforward process and I am happy to help anyone interested apply.”
