Browns Restaurant and Champagne Lounge has been crowned best restaurant in the county Derry.

The Waterside business received a double accolade at last week’s Ulster Regional Finals of the Santa Rita Irish Restaurant Awards 2013: Ian Orr of Browns Restaurant and Champagne Lounge was named as the best chef in the County Derry.

The awards, which were held in The Merchant Hotel, Belfast, identified the top restaurants in each county of Ulster.

Derry’s Lime Tree Restaurant were nominated to progress to the Irish national finals in the best customer service category.

And Buncrana’s The Beach House was named as having the best service in County Donegal.

Mary’s Bar, County Derry was named in the best gastro pub category.

The Exchange was nominated in best casual dining experience while Ardmore Restaurant at the Beech Hill Country House Hotel was named best hotel restaurant in the county,

Strabane business, Oysters were named best restaurant in Tyrone.

The Restaurants Association of Ireland awards are the largest and most coveted in the Irish Restaurant Industry recognising achievement and excellence across 21 categories in the Irish restaurant and hospitality industry.

The 2013 Awards process began in February and will conclude with a special gala function at The Burlington Hotel, Dublin on Monday, June 10.
