The Journal understands that jobs at risk because of the controversial transfer of Housing Executive maintenance contracts have been saved.
A meeting is due to be held with the workers involved this afternoon when more information will become available.
SDLP Foyle MLA Pat Ramsey has said that he is delighted that jobs which were under threat following the transfer of Housing Executive maintenance contracts in the city are to be saved.
The Foyle MLA said: “I have now received assurances that the Omega jobs which were under threat following the transfer of contracts are now secure for the next 2 years. I have been in constant contact with the Department throughout this process and am delighted that we have reached a conclusion which is in the best interests of those workers who were faced with uncertainty.”
