A Derry firm was among 650 businesses from across the North who attended the largest ever InterTradeIreland ‘Meet the Buyer’ event in Belfast recently.
The landmark public procurement event provided local businesses with the opportunity to meet directly with 44 public sector buying organisations and over 100 buyers .These included Central Procurement Directorate (CPD), Translink, DRD Roads Service, NI Water and the University of Ulster along with key southern buyers from the HSE, RTÉ, Dublin Airport Authority and ESB Networks.
The Office of Government Procurement (OGP) was heavily represented with new key category buyers present who unveiled information on the new market opportunities in Ireland.
The OGP has responsibility for sourcing all goods and services on behalf of the public sector in Ireland.
The highly popular event is designed to provide SMEs with an insight into and an improved understanding of the tendering process and how they can gain access to the all-island public procurement market, which is worth an estimated £9.5 billion.
As well as engaging directly with key buyers, specialists were also on hand to give workshops and masterclasses to SMEs on related topics.
