Derry remains the North’s unemployment blackspot despite a marginal drop on the number signing on in the city last month.
The latest official figures show the number of people claiming unemployment related benefits fell by 0.4% in October.
A total of 6,098 people - 8.6% of the working age population - are currently signing on in the Derry City Council area.
The rate in Derry is the highest of all 26 council areas in the North. Strabane has the second highest rate (8%) while in Limavady 6.6% of the working age population are currently signing on.
Across the North the number of people signing on fell by 3% bringing the total claiming work related benefits to 60,119.
The North’s Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster described the latest figures as “encouraging.”
