A press pack of international journalists enjoyed the sights and sounds of the Fleadh in Derry as part of a tourism promotion push.
The travel writers and broadcasters - from the UK, US, France, Germany, India and the Netherlands - were invited to the city by Tourism Ireland and the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.
Niall Gibbons, Tourism Ireland’s Chief Executive said the journalists will showcase the city across the globe.
“The Fleadh Cheoil in Derry~Londonderry was another wonderful platform to showcase the UK City of Culture; it will be highlighted to millions of potential visitors across the world, through the articles and broadcasts these journalists will produce when they return home,” he said.
During their visit, the group got to experience many of the musical events of the Fleadh, including the dramatic closing ceremony at the former Ebrington barracks site.
They also visited the Ulster- American Folk Park, had a guided walking tour of the City Walls and watched Séamus Heaney’s ‘The Poet and the Piper’ at the Millennium Forum.
