Several hundred fashion hungry shoppers were welcomed to the new H&M store in Foyleside Shopping Centre yesterday in the first trading hours, smashing all expectations.

The new store opened at 11am with hundreds of shoppers queuing from early morning eager to the amongst the first to see the latest mens, ladies and childrens wear from the international retailer who boast David Beckham as one of their fashion brand ambassadors.

Fergal Rafferty Centre Manager Foyleside said H&M are delighted with the reaction from shoppers. “The eagerly awaited store opening was one of the most successful in the H&M group with hundreds of customers arriving for the launch.

“We are delighted by the response and we are sure that the fashion savvy North West will continue to be delighted with the range and value in the busy run into Christmas.

“We knew there was a keen interest in H&M from local shoppers, but the crowds for the opening beat all our expectations.”

Foyleside has undergone quite a transformation since the beginning of 2012 with the expansion of TopsShop/Top Man and new arrivals Hoi Polloi, Jane Norman and Vogue. Marks &Spencer and Clarks have completed an upgrade of their stores and Easons are currently undergoing a significant refurbishment project which is due to launch in early November.
