'˜I had to scream to get attention of the EU' - Martina Anderson
Reflecting on her impassioned speech in the European Parliament following the vote in the North to remain part of the EU, Ms Anderson told a recent Brexit debate in Pilot’s Row: “The reason why I was so passionate that day was very clearly the north wasn’t on the agenda. In so far as people were talking about the UK, they were talking about England and then Scotland. The only way I could get attention was to literally scream from the top of my voice.”
Ms Anderson said that the net result of this was a series of meetings with the EU top brass to help ensure the Irish situation was treated seriously.
