Derry firm Fleming Agri-Products is to expand into several key international markets with help from Invest NI.

The Newbuildings based company, a leading manufacturer of agricultural machinery, is investing £328,000 on a series of measures that will enable it to develop new business opportunities it has pinpointed in Scandinavia, France, Switzerland and Australia, and to explore the potential of other international markets.

Invest NI has offered the company assistance of £47,400 to help in developing export sales.

Des Gartland, Regional Manager of Invest NI’s North West Regional Office says Invest NI’s assistance is “geared to assist this enterprising business to build on the international sales it has already achieved.”

“It has already broken into important markets such as France, Switzerland and Australia, and is making a significant investment in its production facilities to enable it to maximise new export opportunities.

“The longstanding focus on quality and excellent customer services gives this progressive and ambitious business a strong platform for faster and sustainable growth in its target markets,” he says.

The company’s managing director George Fleming says the firm’s objective is to drive export sales.

“To enable us to harness the interest from overseas in our products, we are upgrading our production facilities, expanding our paint curing and welding capabilities and increasing handling systems.

“In addition, we plan to expand our sales and marketing activities.

“The overall objective is to reduce our current dependence on the UK and Republic of Ireland markets and broaden our business base by boosting sales in more dynamic regions including Australia and New Zealand,” he says.
