Twenty new jobs are to be be created at a new Social Security Agency mail and scanning unit in Limavady.
Stormont Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland said the new unit will be based at Limavady Jobs and Benefits Office. He said; “This new unit will provide a welcome jobs boost for Limavady and create 20 new posts in the area once it’s operational from January 2014 onwards.”
Limavady SDLP Mayor, Gerry Mullan said: “It’s obviously very welcome news and every new job created in the Limavady district is to be treasured.”
Sinn Féin MLA Cathal Ó hOisín said together with the relocation of 800 DARD jobs to Ballykelly, the news gives confidence that“East Derry can compete for more governmental jobs to be decentralised to the constituency”.
DUP MP Gregory Campbell said it was positive news, and vowed to continue to press for more employment creation for the region.
