New hotel in Waterside opens on Monday

The new Premier Inn at Crescent Link which opens to the public tomorrow.

A new hotel in Derry’s Waterside is to open on Monday - just 26 weeks after construction work first started on it.

The £6 million Premier Inn hotel and restaurant is located at Crescent Link.

The hotel, which has created 60 full and part-time jobs, is the first stepping stone in the proposed £100 million Crescent Link Master Plan - a substantial mixed-use regeneration scheme which is currently under consideration by the Planning Service.

The 60 bedroom hotel includes a 200 cover Brewers Fayre restaurant.

Mark Adams, Development Director for the Orana Group, says: “We are delighted to have delivered phase one of the wider Crescent Link Master Plan with Premier Inn which will serve to strengthen Derry~Londonderry’s leisure and tourism offering in the future.”

“It is fantastic to see our vision for the site now taking shape with the completion of Premier Inn, and demonstrates the master plan’s potential for attracting new investment and creating jobs in the city.”

If approved, the Crescent Link Master Plan proposal has the potential to create major economic benefits including employment for 2,000 people across a diverse range of business sectors including, health, retail, leisure, and offices.

Approximately 1,140 local construction jobs will also be created providing a much needed boost for the local construction industry and suppliers.
