No plans to open bus depot after 9pm - Translink
Translink says it has no plans to open up Derry’s bus depot at night.
On Friday the ‘Journal’ reported a frequent bus user’s concerns over the way passengers have to use a side exit if they arrive into the city after 9pm.
He claimed tourists arriving after 9pm were getting a negative first impression of the city. The passenger says current arrangements are not conducive to welcoming the expected influx of city of culture year tourists.
But Translink say there are no plans to review the 9pm closing time.
“Due to several incidences of anti-social behaviour at Foyle Street Bus Station, Ulsterbus took the decision to close the station gates at 9pm a number of years ago,” a Translink spokeswoman says..
“Only a limited number of services arrive at the bus station after the gates are closed. We currently have no plans to leave the main gates open after 9pm.”
What do you think? What have been your experiences of arriving in the depot after 9pm?
