Roe Valley Forum secures five jobs
Limavady based Roe Valley Education Forum (RVEF) has helped secure full-time, temporary employment for five local residents at the business’s growing Community Services department at Aghanloo.
Here they will experience all aspects of RVEF’s environmental services from garden maintenance to painting and decorating, and creating and developing garden and internal furniture lines.
The five positions were created with assistance from the Department for Employment and Learning.
Each position has been funded through the Department’s ‘Step ahead’ initiative and offers full time employment for an 8 week period. ‘Step Ahead’ started in 2009, and is aimed at people receiving benefits who have been out of work for three months or more. The ‘waged’ strand of ‘Steps to Work’, which Roe Valley Education Forum has successfully delivered for the last three years, provides much needed employment opportunities to those most affected by the current recession and support to voluntary and Community organisation across Northern Ireland.
Diane Rathfield, General Manager of Roe Valley Education Forum said: “I am delighted that RVEF can continue to help the unemployed and those who are economically inactive from the Borough, during these difficult economic times. The department for Employment and Learning’s ‘Step Ahead’ initiative and the ‘Steps to Work’ programme, both help prevent people who have been out of the labour market for an extended period, falling even further behind when trying to access employment opportunities. Both employability initiatives have helped RVEF partner with all businesses sectors in Limavady Borough, to build and support a sustainable and profitable economy.”
