Derry’s cross-border science park will open up massive opportunities for the city, Sinn Féin councillor Mickey Cooper has said.
Colr. Cooper was speaking after a meeting with Derry City Council’s director of development, Stephen Gillespie, and Norman Apsley from the North West Science Park.
Work on the construction of the NWSP is ongoing and it is on course to be completed by the summer.
Colr. Cooper said the marketing of the park is essential to attract tenants.
“Despite its title, the Science Park will not only have a research and development area which will be available for use by groups such as educational and medical organisations.
“It will also include a large innovation centre where work spaces with resilient connectivity will be available at very low cost for digital start-up businesses. This creates the space for entrepreneurs to develop and expand their businesses, whether in the creative sector, software design or product development in a purpose-built setting with support in place.”
