Derry’s Culture Company, in partnership with St. Mary’s College, is hosting a one-day conference on Friday, March 16, as part of DCAL’s ‘Creativity Month.’
The aim of the conference, ‘Teaching and Learning in the City of Culture 2013’, is to give every school in the city an opportunity to contribute ideas to the education programme of City of Culture 2013.
The conference, a key event during ‘Creativity Month’ in the city, will explore opportunities for using 2013 as a showcase for new creative approaches to teaching and learning.
Teachers and artists will share their experiences in a series of workshops focusing on key strands of the 2013 education programme including the Children’s Music Promise and the creative use of digital technology in the classroom.
Martin Melarkey, Senior Programmer for Communities and Education with Culture Company, says: “We are seeking to promote genuine collaboration between schools, local communities and the creative arts sector in the city. We hope that every school will send a representative to the conference to ensure that there’s a city-wide dialogue about the opportunities presented by 2013.”
To register for the conference in St. Mary’s College, e-mail your name, name of school and any dietary requirements you may have to firstname.lastname@example.org putting ‘Learning Conference 16 March’ in the subject of the email. Closing date for registration is 4pm on Monday, March 12.
