Following a board meeting of Dublin’s Temple Bar Cultural Trust (TBCT) yesterday, it’s been reported that Derry man Dermot McLaughlin has been suspended with pay and without prejudice pending an investigation by the board.
Mr McLaughlin, Derry’s former City of Culture project director, had been Chief Executive of TBCT when he was seconded to Derry City Council to spearhead the 2013 culture year project.
He resigned from the Derry job in March after just five months citing personal reasons.
It’s believed the embattled TBCT is being wound down in the wake of highly critical reports about its finances.
An audit branded internal controls “unsatisfactory” and said the number and extent of weaknesses and regulatory violations represented “unacceptable exposure and risk”.
