UK company The Range have confirmed that they are to create up to 100 new jobs when they open a store at the former B&Q site in Derry.
The company today confirmed their plans to relocate to the building vacated by B&Q back in January 2016.
It is hoped the new store will be opened some time in 2017, with further details on the plans expected to be announced shortly.
The Range announced back in October 2016 the opening of their first store in the north at another former B&Q site in Ballymena.
The company’s 130 stores across Britain stock more than 16,000 products across a wide range of furniture, lighting, bedding, furnishings, electrical goods, DIY and art supply goods, as well as gardening and pet equipment, toys and clothing.
A spokesman for the company said today: “We can confirm that The Range are planning to open a new store at the former B&Q site in Faustina Retail Park in Londonderry.
“The new store will create between 80-100 full and part-time jobs for the local area.”
SDLP Foyle Assembly candidate Mark H Durkan welcomed the confirmation.
He said: “This is absolutely fantastic.
“It was awful when B&Q closed so it is great news to see a new business coming to that site and creating so many new jobs.”
