Up to 30 new jobs are to be created by discount retailer B&M which is expanding its Derry operation.
The company’s outlet at Strand Road is to double in size with the take-over of the former JJB Sports store located just next door.
The new-look B&M Homestore - which will officially open at 9 a.m on Friday morning - will occupy 24,000 sq. ft. of floorspace and offer a wide range of leading brands.
The store’s general manager Emmett McNally says the new homestore “does everything the bargain store does - but on a much bigger scale.”
He added: “This is positive news for the city. The expansion and the recruitment of up to 30 new staff will mean that, in all, 100 people are now employed here.
“The B&M brand is growing rapidly. We now have more than 330 stores, with 26 in Northern Ireland.
“This is really great news for the city and region.”
